A few weeks before half term, it was auditions for our play Pirates vs Mermaids. Before the auditions started, we went down into the hall to do a warm up. It was one to help us to project our voice. Then we split up into three groups. Who wanted to be mermaids (most girls), who wanted to be pirates (most boys and a few girls) and who wanted to be the narrator (only Hugo!). Then we went upstairs for the audition. We had to say (with expression) the parts we learned over the past week. The pirates had to learn, "NO MERMAIDS ALLOWED ARRRRR! Mermaids? Ugh, pirates are better than mermaids. (mockingly) With their long cascading hair and their swishy fishy tails and their all like Ooh! Get me! I'm a mermaid!". The mermaids had to learn "We don't want to go to your school anyway. It's a very silly school for very silly pirates. Mermaids are cool. Mermaids are in. Face it, mermaids are so much better than pirates!". Hugo had to learn, "Avast there landlubbers! I'm here to tell you a tale of swashbuckling. Be warned, it is not for the faint-hearted. Those of a nervous disposition should leave now. I was talking to the audience! Are we all sitting comfortably? Good now let's begin. Me Hearty High School was the most distinguished pirate school on the seven seas.". I had to wait for my turn. I said who I wanted to be then I started. We found out what part we got after a week. I was overwhelmed to find out I was Ace!

The Last Olympian is a book by Rick Riordan. It is the last book of the Percy Jackson series. It's all about the "Big prophecy". There are just too many deaths! Beckendorf first then a load of other demi-gods! But the main thing is Kronos wants to take over Olympus and it's up to Camp Half-Blood to to stop him. And guess what? The gods are too busy to help the demi-gods because they're are fighting Typhon. Even worse, Hades, Demeter and Persephone are just lounging about in the underworld! Could anything get worse? Well, it does! Rachel (mortal) comes along telling Percy he's not the hero even though he's the child of the prophecy. They have to fight dracanea, ice giants, laestrygonians and a drakon!!! The difference beetween a drakon and a dragon is the drakon is a lot more fierce and scary. If that's not enough to scare you I have know idea what would!
Do you ever get the feeling your house is small? Really? How ever small it feels it won't be as small as a Saxon house! They had to fit their animals, brothers, sisters, parents, granddads and grandmas in one room! You would also be sleeping on hay bales. There would be no light source at night (well not a big one!). It would get a bit smoky during the day because there was a fire in the middle of the room and only a small hole in the roof for the smoke to get out. There would be benches around the room on the edges, and the house would be made of mainly wood. The roof would be thatched and some houses had wattle and daub (sticks weaved together with manure in the gaps). Basically everything would be quite simple. The window was just a hole. The door would be just a wooden board with a wooden hinge. So, do you still feel your house is small? Today we went to Park View, but before we went to play on all the things, we made some paper! I know it sounded strange but it was awesome! I made two pieces out of paper and blue paint and one made of egg boxes (cardboard) and Zoe made two out of leaves and bags and the other one I forgot what it was made of. First we put some of the mix into the water (about three handfuls) and then we got this rectangle sieve and dipped it in. After that we took the sieve out and put this window like frame on top and let the water drip out. Once it started slowly dripping we put it on top of a piece of paper and took the window frame off. Finally we flipped the sieve and started dabbing at the other side until there wasn’t much water left and we took off the sieve very slowly and waited for it to dry! Then we went to play. After about an hour or so we went to collect our paper and put it on the radiator to dry at home. When it is ready I am going to show it to Green Club at school.
At school, we are reading and doing work about How To Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell. At one point we made characters to join the Hairy Hooligan tribe. (the tribe Hiccup's in) I made a character called Blurarrow who's super fast and is and archery master. He has a pet rat called Speda and a dragon called Visi. (species: Razor Tip super fast) His friends are Toughnut, Longlash and Peggy. (my friends made them up.) We also made up a story about how our characters got their dragon. That's where Blurarrow got his dragon. My favorite part of the story is when Blurarrow, Peggy and Longlash were flying on their dragons and saw Hiccup falling. The more recent peice of work we've been doing is our diary entry. (when we found our dragons when they woke up) Blurarrow was in trouble at first and after he has his sleep in the woods (long story) he knew was in big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big, trouble
This is a poem I wrote:
Would you see a river as an animal? Roaring like a bear, Zooming like a cheetah, Joining rivers like a zebra in a herd, Singing like a canary, Twisting like a snake, Expending territory like a lion's pride, Howling like a wolf, Slowing like a snail, Raising tides like a bird's first flight, Now you can see, There's a lot more to a river Than you'd think! |
