Finally! After what seemed forever, I finally finished "The Young Elites! This story was based on the survivors of the blood fever and had special gifts they had to control. These gifts were special powers that were activated when they pulled on the strings of energy. Adelina was a young elite and had the power to create illusions. Her sister, Violeta had the power to pull away other peoples powers. Teren is an evil inquisitor. He wants to rid the city of malfetos. (DO NOT ASK ME WHAT A MALFETO IS!) And he steals Violeta and blackmails Adelina to work with him. She also has to make sure the other elites suspect what she's hiding...

During the half term holiday, I was given the task to create a fact file on the underworld. Its not bad compared to the point it's longer than an A4 sheet of paper but I don't care! I managed to fit on a few pictures of "The Eye of Horus," "Anubis" and a "Crook and Flail." Here are some basic facts:
Osiris is the king of the afterlife All the organs in were taken out in mummification process but the heart was left in Ammit was the great monster that swallowed people with hearts that were heavier than the feather of truth Before you enter the underworld, you must ask Aken to row you across the river. Those are only some of the facts. Here is the fact sheet. Last Thursday I went to my first ever lecture about mythology. The speaker was an author called Caroline Lawrence. Caroline talked about mentors and talisman and thresholds and how she made or wrote her stories. There was a Roman mystery series, a P.K Pinkerton and a new series coming out. I won a book signed by her because I answered 4 questions correctly. The book is called The Night Raid and it's about two boys who escaped the trojan war and tried to build a new Troy. I really liked it because it will help me with my NaNoWriMo story. (I've stolen an idea) Caroline talked about the seven plot beats and her version, but instead of seven, there are twelve plot beats.
After school, on Thursdays, I do LAMDA (London, Academy, of Music, Drama and Art). I haven't been there for a long time but in my first exam, 82%. I did a poem called "The Door" by Richard Edwards. In my second exam I did a monologue called "Izzy Wizzy Get's Busy" by Simon Parker, but this time I got 96%, a school record! Read about it in the school website here
Today, I learned how how to make origami. I made a crane, a boat and a hat. The crane was the hardest, but looks the best! For some reason my hat does not fit me, so that's why I'm giving it to Zoe for her dollies (on her birthday, the boat is also for the dollies). It's very easy to make a hat, just follow the instructions below.
1. Fold the piece of paper widthwise 2. Repeat step one but with what you've got 3. Unfold once, then fold the two corners in till they meet 4. Finally, fold the rectangle underneath and repeat on the other side. Now all you've got to do is hit the catwalk!!!!! Another place, another pier to go to… this time in Brighton... and it is amazing!!! It's got all the normal video games, 2p slot machines and all that sortsl of stuff, but the best part was the Jetpack Joy Ride! You had to earn points to win tickets to win a prize! Sam got a lollipop and a glow stick, Zoe got a glow stick and I got an alien.
We went to the end of the pier, AND IT WAS HEAVEN! There were rollercoasters, really high rides, upside down rides and more! It was way better than our pier because it's bigger and there are lots more things to do. You can find out more about our pier in the St Annes on the link below St. Annes Pier There was a three day festival at Park View called Festival of Stories. There were shows, stories, art attack and lots more. AKS was part of it. We had a stall and a drama group. At the stall children got to colour in, listen to stories and eat lollipops! The drama group put on a show based on the people of Lytham's secrets. There were loads of different scenes they made from the secrets such as:
Here are my answers:
When and why did Northern Ireland split up from Southern Ireland? Because of a war. England wanted the 6 best counties to be part of the United Kingdom. Those counties was Northern Ireland. Why is the Irish Sea called the Irish Sea? Why isn't it the English Sea? It's because Ireland is the smallest piece of land so that's why it's called the Irish sea. What are leprechauns? They are like gods, there's one for different things such as knowledge. They are quite small and can do magic, I think. Was Northern Ireland ever part of Southern Ireland? Yes. What are some Irish myths and legends? See my post about Clough Mor! A giant from the north was killed by a different giant from the south with a huge boulder. That giant is now sleeping. Myths and legends. How many are there? Well here's another one!
Long ago, when the Northern Irish were fighting the Southern Irish, two giants were fighting - one from the North and one for the South. The Southern giant threw a big boulder at the Northern giant and killed him. So now there is a big rock that the Irish think the Southern giant threw. They call it Clough Mor, meaning Big Stone. But the rock was actually moved by a glacier! We went on a walk to the big rock. We went through a jungle, up a hill and there it was...The big rock. We then went even higher to the view point called Slieve Martin. It was cold and windy but the view was good. Remember how I read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe? Here's a walk to do with it. They say that C.S. Lewis came up with the idea when he was in Ireland looking at the landscape. The walk starts at the big wardrobe door that you walk through that leads you to the lamp post. If you turn left that's the Beaver's Hut will be. You carry on towards the Tree Spirits and walk across the green. Then you enter the Witch's Courtyard and you will see her castle. If continue on your left you will see little tree houses (not houses in the trees, but small tree houses). Then you go towards the four thrones and then you get back to the beginning. The walk was interesting because of the way that they made you feel like you were in Narnia and meeting all the characters, making the book come alive!
