The next day I woke up at about 6:30 and went into Jack and Alfie’s room so I could play/talk to them and Hugo could sleep. After a ½ an hour or so we got dressed and went down to play. After about another ½ hour it was breakfast! Breakfast was even better than dinner! I had a scrumptious cooked breakfast of sausage, eggs, hash brown, scrambled egg poached egg and baked bean
My first activity of the day was the walk. We were going to climb a hill (nicknamed bum hill!!!). The fun thing was there were cool facts on the way and a lot of other things! Even better, we got to choose the way so we were like the instructor! Every time we got to a junction we would vote on which way we wanted to go! We got close to the top when we saw a frozen pond and played there for a little while. When the others caught up we started walking again. Rachel showed us some sphagnum moss which could soak up water and had something called anti-septic which kept stuff clean! So if you squeezed the moss and the water came out you could drink it! It was also used in World War 2 for healing cuts because the moss would soak up the blood and because of the anti-septic it could stop infections. On the way back we made boats and bazookas out of a plant I can’t remember.
From the top of “Bum Mountain” we got a great view of all valleys like the U-shape ones. U-shape valleys are formed when a glacier slowly melts and smoothly carves it. Another valley I saw was a V-shape valley which was made by rivers cutting through and eroding the land. A new valley I’ve learned is the Hanging valley where a lump of ice sat and when it decided to escape as a river, a bigger glacier ( U-shape valley) blocked it so it escapes the other way.
To be honest, lunch wasn’t great. I had a cheese sandwich and a Kit Kat. I also had a piece of cake. I ate all of the cake and Kit Kat (no surprise) but the cheese sandwich could have been better so I didn’t eat it all.
Our second activity of the day was rock climbing. This was my favourite activity because I love heights and climbing so rock climbing was perfect! First we did the walls with the ropes. The team I was in completed 3 walls and I got to the top of all of them! The easiest one would have been for me the first one and the second one because they were on the easy side but the hard was a lot harder! Some walls went upside-down and some had tiny foot spaces! My favourite one was the third one because it was the hardest! Then we went onto some non-rope ones! I climbed up only a few of them because the foot spaces were really far apart. Rachel was awesome on the walls, she made it look so easy! But sadly it was time to go back to Glaramara.
We hung out in our rooms for a bit and got ready for dinner. After an hour we were called down and we played downstairs. Then finally we had dinner! I had shepherd’s pie which didn’t taste the best but it was better than the cheese sandwich I had for lunch! For desert I had toffee apple crumble which I didn’t eat all of because I felt sick.
After dinner I felt better, but instead of playing bingo, I played chess against Billy which I sadly lost. Then we had hot chocolates (which was a bit cold) and went to bed. I didn’t stay up long just slept.
